National Curriculum Subjects
At Poulner Infant School and Nursery, our curriculum is designed to give children a broad, balanced and exciting range of learning experiences. In Years 1 and 2, we follow the National Curriculum for England, which sets out the knowledge and skills children should develop across subjects including English, mathematics, science, art and design, computing, design and technology, geography, history, music and physical education. We use these statutory expectations as the foundation for a curriculum that is engaging, meaningful and appropriate for our young learners.
Children in our Nursery and Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Learning is organised across seven areas of learning and development and is delivered through a rich combination of purposeful play, exploration, adult-led learning and first-hand experiences.
